HDMI8K is a recently updated specification.
The standard supports a series of higher video resolutions and refresh rates, including 8k 60Hz and 4k 120Hz, with resolutions up to 10K. It also supports high dynamic range HDR, and the bandwidth has been increased to 48Gbps.
The new bandwidth requires the support of new ultra-high-speed HDMI cable.
This new cable has very low electromagnetic interference (stronger anti-electromagnetic interference ability), and also reduces the interference to nearby wireless devices. This HDMI cable is backward compatible, which means it can be used with low-version HDMI devices.
Highlights of HDMI specification 2.1 include:
1) The high video resolution and faster refresh rate of 8K 60Hz and 4K 120Hz can bring immersive visual experience and smooth and fast dynamic details. Resolution up to 10K can also reach commercial level.
2) EARC simplifies connectivity, enhances ease of use, and supports advanced audio formats and high audio quality. It ensures full compatibility between audio devices and the upcoming HDMI 2.1 product.
3) HDMI 2.1 also adds multiple enhanced refresh rate technologies for videos, movies and games to ensure that users can use high resolution without stagnation. For example:
① The "variable refresh rate (VRR)" used for games can reduce the delay, stagnation and tearing of the screen, and make players more fluent when playing games.
② There is also "Quick Media Switching (QMS)" for videos and movies, which can eliminate the delay of white screen before the content is displayed.
③ The "Fast Frame Transfer (QFT)" is aimed at VR virtual reality, which greatly reduces the delay and makes the experience of real-time interaction better. In addition, there is "Automatic Low Delay Mode (ALLM)", in which the delay can be set automatically.
